Last Day & Travels Home

 Hello from Denver!

We started our last day in Rome with breakfast at the hotel before catching the bus up to Villa Borghese. It was a little bit difficult to catch the one we wanted due to a bus/train strike that was happening that we didn't know about until we were actively trying to catch it! On the last trip to Rome, we realized how big the park was. Since there were several bike rental options in the area, we picked up a bike to fly around, getting some great views of the surrounding piazzas and briefly stopping by the Borghese Gallery (which was sold out for our visit). We ended up biking about 3.5 miles during the hour we rented the bike for - good value for the hour of fun, too!

We then headed down towards the Spanish Steps and got lunch at Pasticceria D'Angelo. This pizza was way better than the one we ate earlier in the trip. We were insecure about our vegetable intake so we got some grilled veggies - verdict was that the zuchinni was the best and we could've passed on the mushrooms!

We walked along Via del Corso (main shopping street) and stopped for coffee at the same place we went earlier in the trip, Café Capranica. We enjoyed the people watching of the many tour groups walking by.
We went back to our favorite place we found on our Rome leg for our final dinner - Osteria Antica de Pietra and got the same thing as last time, plus tiramisu. I also wanted some gelato for the final night so we stopped at Amorino!

We woke up really early (4:00 AM) the next morning to catch the bus & train, the Leonardo Express, to the airport. Our flights home were on-time both from Rome and from Munich, and my mom picked us up in Denver. It's nice to be back!

We unpacked our souvenirs and this is the stuff we're keeping! We only wish we would have bought some black truffle in Italy...

Overall, reflecting on the trip, we really enjoyed each place we were in. We're happy with how everything worked out but, as always, happy to be home. Until next time!

Amy
