Immersive Art and Fish Markets

On our second day in Tokyo, we started our morning with a smoothie and breakfast (pancakes and an egg salad sandwich) at 7-Eleven before heading out. We started our morning at the same coffee shop as the first day, then took the metro over to the Ginza area.

From there, we caught a bus to TeamLab Planets, a fun and immersive art exhibit, for our reservation. The bus was packed with two distinct groups - people commuting to work, and people commuting to TeamLab for the exhibit. We were happy to get off the bus and out into the fresh air! Once there, we took off our shoes and went through the three exhibits: Water, Garden, and Forest. We liked the crystal lights and the floating flower garden!

After TeamLab, we took the bus back into the city to visit the Tsukiji Outer Market. We wandered around the market, trying a few different things including a tuna trio, a delicious strawberry mochi, Mitarashi Dango (sweet soy rice ball), tamago (omelet), and some snacks. It was fun to try all of the snacks, but the tuna was our favorite!

We were a little lost at this point on what to do next (our first day was so productive and easier to string together), but decided we should check out the Ginza area next since we were close by. We walked around and shopped for a while, visiting a TaylorMade store, grabbing a snack at one of the department store basement food courts, stopping in Itoya (a fun stationery store), and seeing the Seiko clock. We stopped by a Starbucks in Ginza for a caramel macchiato and waffle snack before heading back to Shinjuku.

We took a little break at the hotel before heading back out for dinner and drinks. We found this fun bar at the Hotel Groove Shinjuku. We were looking for the bar on the 45th floor (Bellustar), but ended up popping into the 17th floor bar (Jam17) instead. These were very good martinis! Next, we went to Pazzo di Pizza, the cutest pizza shop that we found on Tableog in the area. The restaurant only sat 10 or so people, and the chef handmade each item right in front of us. The pizza reminded us of our favorite place in Denver and was so good.

Overall, we had a good second day in Tokyo!
