Aventuras Grandes en la Ciudad de Guayaquil
Hey guys!
I'm on the plane to Baltra Island right now! So excited to be heading to the Galápagos and ready to see all of the animals. Enjoy!
We transferred to Guayaquil today, and after four hours of bus riding, we made it! Guayaquil is about the size of Denver and is a port city; it's very crowded and large. We took a tour of the city from our EF Tour Director (with our group for the entire trip) who was from Guayaquil himself. We enjoyed lunch at one of his favorite places, met his son, and saw the main highlights of the city.
We were worried about bugs, specifically mosquitos, but I think we're okay. There aren't any to worry about in the islands! (Which would be proven wrong as I traveled there... This is posted late)
On our way to Guayaquil
Iguana take a selfie with you! (This park was so cool because the iguanas just hang out)
Cathedral: It brought back memories for me of our Italy vacation last summer.
Guayaquil Iguana Park
Clock Tower
Guayaquil City View (we climbed a tower)
Mr. MacArthur and me in front of the city
Monument with all of the liberated South American states; notice that 3 of the flags share the same colors (red, yellow, blue) because they were liberated around the same time.
View of the poorer areas. Sadly, a large tower is coming between their settlements and the ocean view: its purpose will be tourism and will be inaccessible for the poor.
¡Hasta Luego!
Amy
