¡Playas, Iguanas, y Más!

Hola,

We had a crazy seventh day here in the Galápagos Islands! Our plans changed completely due to protests on the island. On Santa Cruz, the island was closed completely for tourism purposes; taxis and buses weren't even operating, so it became a day of walking. I estimate that we walked roughly 7 miles yesterday. Nonetheless, it was a fun one. We had an early breakfast but went to the beach after that. On our way, we saw lots of Pelicans and wasps (which were introduced to the islands by accident). The beach was nice because we had a small lagoon to ourselves and were able to swim without worrying about the waves.

Lunch was satisfying, but unfortunately the heat took a couple people out, likely a result of dehydration. (They are much better now.) Quite a few group members have gotten sick, but they seem to be doing better. After lunch, we had some free time to chill and rehydrate before dinner. It was nice to have that time to relax, as everyone needed it!

Please enjoy the following pictures!

Marine Iguanas! They're so cool and sometimes pretty fat.

Our little lagoon (it opened up to the right of the right mangrove)

A taste of American life: pizza, baseball (on TV), and protests (in the streets)

See you guys soon! We start our transport back tomorrow afternoon.
