An Exciting Start to the New Year!

Hi, happy 2018! The first two days of the new year were filled with some of my most favorite things - turtles, hiking, and golf!

We started our morning with a hike to Kiholo Bay, a new addition to our Big Island trips! We saw at least 13 turtles (either in the water or on land) and walked through a variety of scenic spots. It's about 3 miles round-trip, and we even saw some goats!

We then grabbed a quick lunch at Island Fish and Chips in the Queen's Shops and ate at the pool before heading to the golf course. The first one we played was along the coastline, and my favorite holes were the par 3's over water.
See if you can find me in the background!

When we came back, we went to A-Bay to watch the sunset, even recreating a picture we took in 2007 on our first trip to the Big Island.

Dinner was at the Tommy Bahama restaurant in nearby Mauna Lani Village. We'd highly recommend the pineapple creme brulee - it's actually made inside a pineapple!

The next morning, dad and I got to play another really special golf course - this time with a fantastic caddie. I made lots of pars, saw lots of beautiful views, and enjoyed the morning outside!

We hung out by the pool for a little bit after golf before getting ready for dinner.

At sunset, we walked down to A-Bay again, and played with "portrait mode" during the time just after sunset called golden hour.

For dinner, we went to Roy's, a Hawaiian classic. (Each time we go to Hawaii, we stop by this restaurant!) I split the fish trio and ahi with my mom, which had salmon, mahi mahi, and ahi. Dessert was a molten lava cake (a warm chocolate cake with a molten chocolate center - yum!).
