Mauna Kea Beach Day

Hello!

On January 3rd, we went over to Mauna Kea Beach for a fun morning of relaxation (sometimes called "napping" for me), frisbee, and big waves! Although the beach isn't known for big waves (quite the opposite, actually), we found a sign when we arrived noting "dangerous ocean conditions." It was still a really nice morning to hang out at a beautiful beach.

 

In the spirit of recreating pictures from our previous trips, we re-did this one from our 2007 trip. Look how much Nick's grown!

For lunch, we went over to our favorite taco shop - Kohala Burger & Taco - and got some shave ice after. This time, we added a "snow cap" (condensed milk) to our shave ice that sort of resembled the volcanoes the Big Island is known for.

We hung out at the pool for a little bit and then went to happy hour at Lava Lava Beach Club. Though we had some issues with seating (couldn't get a table with a view), the food was tasty. We got a nice view of the sunset on our way back to the condo too :)
