Jackson, WY & Yellowstone 2020
Hello!
It's been a long time since I've posted, and I feel like so much (yet so little) has happened! Earlier this summer, I decided I really wanted to go on a road trip. So, Ray (my boyfriend) and I decided to take one to Jackson, WY and Yellowstone National Park. We had a great time and it was the perfect getaway.
We left early Friday morning for Jackson, stopping a few times along the way. The drive in was really pretty. On the way in, we passed the Hoback and Snake Rivers and could see people enjoying the summer weather in kayaks. We were a little early, so the hotel receptionist encouraged us to check out the Jackson Elk Preserve. What we didn't realize was there were two ways to go, and we went the "wrong" way. While Google Maps said there were many hiking trails, we didn't see anyone hiking... it wasn't until we were leaving on Saturday that we discovered where the path was ;) In any case, it was a calm walk and a great stretch after our drive.
We ate dinner at Hatch in downtown Jackson, then explored a little more, stopping in a few gift shops and visiting the city park with the antlers. The Jackson Hole Lodge had a pool and hot tub, so we stopped there after our exploring.
On Saturday, we got up early and got some breakfast. We stopped by Persephone Bakery for some coffee and a pastry before eating a full breakfast and picking up lunch at E. Leaven's. Once we finished, we hit the road for Grand Teton National Park. There, we did a hike near Jenny Lake and enjoyed the scenery. We stopped to admire the view and eat a little snack before continuing to Yellowstone.
Our first stop in Yellowstone was West Thumb. We visited a few geysers and springs and walked along Yellowstone Lake. Then, we had a picnic at the Divide Picnic Area.
Our final stop of the day was Old Faithful. Arguably the most famous feature of Yellowstone, it was very crowded and busy at the site. We arrived just as the geyser was erupting and watched from afar. Because it was so busy, we tried to find areas where we could be far from others.
