The day after CSU, my mom and I took Friday to visit CU Boulder for a be-a-student for a day experience. I saw a lot of fellow HR students and really enjoyed getting to see the campus from a different viewpoint than the other 15 times that I've been on it. (Bolder Boulder X 4, Flatirons Golf Course X 2, etc.)
Our day was busy and action packed, but a lot of fun. Here is our schedule:
- 8:15- Tour of the main points on campus
- 9:00- Intro to Boulder
- 9:15- Sample Lecture
- 10:15- Residence Hall Info
- 10:20- Residence Hall Tour (Kittredge Complex)
- 11:00-12:40 Lunch in the C4C (where freshmen eat)
- 12:40-1:00 Admissions info
- 1:00-2:00 Parent and Student Panels
- 2:00-2:15 Floyd Pierce, Highlands Ranch alumni/Boettcher Scholar, speech
- 2:15-2:30 Suggestions on afternoon
- Mom and I did our own thing and explored campus and "The Hill" area.
We had a wonderful day. Here are some pictures from it!

Just an average day in Boulder.. |

Go Buffs! We learned a lot about the mascot, Ralphie, who is actually a girl. She gets to run on the field for football games and once was abducted by Oklahoma State University and painted before a football game. Now, she is not kept on campus. In the picture above, she is supposedly looking down to Nebraska (rivals!) |

Flatirons! |

Not just your average business school... By that, I mean beauty and academics! |
|
Wonderful views of the Flatirons with blue skies make Boulder incredibly beautiful |

Farrand Field |

The wonderful, incredible, Floyd Pierce! He did a great job with his speech. |
|
Here he is speaking about his academics. The picture on screen is him and Mr. Davis, my current senate adviser! |

"Hill" community, where you can find a famous college prep company. |

Old Main, the first building on campus |
One of the prettiest spots on campus that I hadn't seen before: VARSITY LAKE!
And mom's collage...
Mom and I had a very fun day. It was great to explore the campus and get a different look at it. I wouldn't necessarily call them "a-ha" moments, but a few things that give Boulder the edge would be Varsity Lake, the Flatirons, and having the chance to listen to a Ranch alum speak about how wonderful Boulder is. Mom and Dad are alumni, and the campus is close to home. Both of these things help. The dorms are much nicer at CU, by the way. Having the business school orientation last week (see this post) seems great also because CSU doesn't offer the be-a-student programs, nor the business orientations. Oh yeah, and Folsom is in the center of campus, it's pretty, and the view is wonderful... I have to give this point to CU because the stadium for CSU isn't even on campus- it's 10 minutes away! I'm starting to get so excited for my future!
QOTD: (actually a song)Fight CU down the field,
CU must win
Fight, fight for victory
CU knows no defeat
We'll roll up a mighty score
Never give in
Shoulder to shoulder
We will fight, fight
Fight, fight, fight!
