Buen día, Sevilla!

Hola from Sevilla!
We've moved onto the next leg of our adventure and are really excited to be in our next city. First impressions of Sevilla include that it's a quaint city with tons of soul. It's the 4th largest in Spain but has a completely distinct feel from Barcelona's cosmopolitan, modern culture. Sevilla is soulful and exquisite, but very hot! (It hit 105 degrees yesterday!) We'll be here for two more full days before our final city!

Flight: Barcelona --> Sevilla
Our morning started early (6:00 AM) with a flight to Barcelona. We used Vueling, an intra-Spain airline that

Lunch
We ate our first Sevillan lunch at Casablanca near the Cathedral. Most places in Sevilla don't open until noon or later, so we waited until 1:00 to head over. The restaurant was a recommendation from our apartment reception, and it filled up quickly with locals. I had a rice dish with seafood, Nick had a sirloin, and both of my parents had an egg dish. Good ambiance, good service, and good food!

We also stopped by a really cute ice cream shop, where my brother got a Stracciatella cone (with the gelato shaped like a rose) and a macaron. Delicious!

Our Apartment
We are staying on Calle Antonia Diaz, right across the street from la Plaza de Toros. We even have a balcony with a great view of the Cathedral and other parts of Sevilla!

Plaza de España
After a long siesta (we were all tired from the flight), my parents and I went to Plaza de España. When I imagined big Spanish plazas, this is exactly what I had in mind! It was magnificent - huge and ornate. Among the sights at the Plaza include horse-drawn carriages, a couple taking their wedding pictures, and spontaneous Flamenco dancing!

Dinner:
  • "Tinto de Verano" - typical Spanish drink
  • Italian meats plate
  • Ravioli with spinach and pesto sauce

QOTD: "What the duck?! It's so hot out here! Welcome to *Sevilla*" -Dad, referring to the "dry heat" of Sevilla while staring at ducks in the canal at la Plaza de España. We're planning to stay very hydrated and utilize A/C when possible!
