Granada: Part 2
Hola!
After the tour, we wandered down the hill towards the main city. We grabbed some lunch at Café Lisboa in Plaza Nueva. It had a fabulous brunch deal with crepes, coffee, juice, and eggs - perfect after a busy morning!
We spent some of our afternoon walking through the city. We stopped by the Fountain of Isabel, wandered through the Alcaiceria (artisan’s market), and visited the Capilla Real (where Ferdinand and Isabel are buried). It was worth the visit to learn about the various figures depicted throughout the chapel. And, bonus - we got to see a Botticelli painting! Then, it was siesta time!
We decided to go back out for sunset, walking up the Albaicín neighborhood to get to the Mirador San Nicolas. This is a fabulous viewpoint for the Alhambra at sunset and a fun place to hang out. We took in the scenery with some Spanish guitar and people watching!
For dinner, we got some empanadas at Pizzería La Esquinita Argentina nearby. They had a promotion for a small dinner that we enjoyed before our walk back down the hill.
Granada has a really nice drink deal as well - order one and get a tapa with it! I really enjoyed trying some new things and participating in this cultural activity! We went to Taberna Tacón Flamenco to hang out for a while and enjoy the scene.
We started our Saturday a little later with breakfast at Cafeteria Guerrero in the plaza closest to oue hostel. It was another great deal in a nice area! Since the cathedral was right there, we also decided to go in. It's massive! We then walked toward Plaza Nueva to continue exploring and stumbled upon a flamenco show.
Next, we walked along the Paseo de los Tristes and the river towards my favorite flamenco statue. The street is crowded, small, and cars are still allowed to drive on it!
We got some lunch at Shwarma King to try another different and prevalent food in Granada. Another nice deal and pretty good! We stopped for gelato at Helados la Perla after, then walked back toward the cathedral to catch some sun.
Because our flight was relatively early, we took the bus to the airport early - the time we wanted to leave wasn’t available, possibly because of siestas!
That’s all for now!
