Last Days in Barcelona

Hola!

For the last few days in Barcelona, I had some time to re-visit my favorite spots and relax in the city. It was so much fun to enjoy the nice weather and hang out.

On Saturday, Kaitlyn and I grabbed lunch at Rosa del Raval since she was leaving early Sunday morning. We then walked around Las Ramblas and did a little shopping throughout the neighborhood before heading back to our area of the city to grab coffee at Condal Caffè. We had to say goodbye after that so we could both go pack, but it's an "until next time." (Thanks for all the memories this spring Kaitlyn!) I walked around the Sants area a little more after that before heading back to spend some quality time with my host mom and get packed up for mom and dad's arrival the next day!
On Sunday morning, I took the metro over to meet mom and dad at H10 Madison! This semester has been my longest amount of time away from home so it was super exciting to have them visit me in the city I got to call "home." We got coffee and pastries at Caelum, then walked back through the main part of the city. It was Palm Sunday, so we actually experienced a small parade as well!
Then, it was time to head back to the Sants area. We met my host mom for lunch at DeAngelis close to the apartment after a little bit of walking through the neighborhood. I was the group translator as we talked about all kinds of memories, TV shows, and introducing my real mom and dad to my host mom. It was definitely bittersweet moving out of the apartment. I'm really going to miss Juana and everything she did for me throughout the semester!
My mom and dad wanted to explore the Sagrada Familia area a little more and briefly visit the Hospital de Sant Pau. We took the metro over from our hotel (right by the Barcelona Cathedral) and visited the most popular photo spot in town! We tried to go over for a drink at the Ayre Hotel Rosellon, but they've apparently changed the rules since the one time I was allowed to the top (and now nobody's allowed unless they're a guest)! They were rude to us, so we decided to hit the H10 Casa Mimosa hotel instead for a view of Casa Mila. We got a light dinner at Txpela to close out the night.
We started off our Monday with breakfast at the Alsur Café Palau. Then we took the train and funicular up to the bus stop before catching a quick (shorter and easier) taxi up to the amusement park. We rode everything in the panoramic area with our tourist tickets, then went to the Sagrat Cor Church! I hadn't been up to the top and we really wanted to, so we paid the fee to go up the panoramic elevator and climb all the way to the statue of Christ on top. It was worth it!
We spent the rest of our day shopping along Passeig de Gracia after a quick churro stop. Our final dinner was at El Nacional, where it's possible to try a variety of different foods popular in Catalunya.

Fun last few days in my city!

Amy
