Semana Ocho

Hola amigos!

The first week of March in Barcelona was a fabulous one! I got to do some really fun cultural things and explore some new parts of town.

Sunday: I got back with enough time to enjoy the afternoon in Barcelona, so I decided to use it to go to the Fundación Joan Miró (towards the Montjuic Castle). The big tapestry was beautiful, but I had a hard time understanding the blank canvases scattered throughout different parts of the museum. I walked through the Jardins Joan Brossa and the Verdaguer gardens a little bit afterwards!
Monday: On Monday, I tried Rosa del Raval, a Mexican restaurant with a good lunch deal. My friend Emily and I also stopped by a cute place called Happy Pills where you can get a small sweet snack near the Barcelona Cathedral.
Tuesday: I finally tried Brunch and Cake between my classes with my friend Kaitlyn. Then, I spent some time walking around the stores on Passeig de Gracia (the shopping street) for my marketing class. At night, I went to Carnaval in Sitges with a company called Stoke Travel. They provided the transportation to and from Barcelona and allowed us the opportunity to experience a significant cultural event. Rio Carnaval would be the next goal!
Wednesday: I had a field trip for my history class in the Ciutadella Park area to talk about Barcelona's world fairs hosted in 1888 and 1929. It was an interesting morning that introduced me to some new spaces in the area.
Thursday: I had some free time on Thursday afternoon, so Kaitlyn and I went for a walk starting from the CIEE study center. We walked by Els Quatre Gats (where Picasso and other famous Spanish artists used to hang out), the Palau de la Musica Catalana, and through the Gothic Quarter.

Coming Soon: Brussels, Belgium!

Hasta luego!

Amy
