Goodbye Venice, Hello Verona

What a wonderful day we had today. We started our morning at the Rialto Fish and Produce market, located near RIalto Bridge. Everything was so fresh and colorful. We bought a coupleofpeaches and also a box of strawberries from the guy pictured. Everything looked so cute, but we only had enough energy to eat those.
He is smiling! ^

Then we went to get lunch so we could have a picnic, but ended up finding a super cute bakery. We shared two sandwiches, and of course, got dessert. Missing from the picture below is a chocolate muffin (oops..)!
We also visited Frari off of the Rialto stop. We could not take pictures inside the church but were amazed. There were works by Bellini, Donatello, and lots of beautiful artwork adorning every wall.
Of course, we got gelato. Mom and I shared this cone of Nutella and chocolate. This was the first shop we had seen that had Nutella flavored gelato, so we felt we needed to stop.
A touristy thing to do in Venice would be to take a gondola... And we did! It was so relaxing and wonderful. The gondolier spoke English, gave us a detailed tour, didn't smoke, and didn't talk on his cell phone. We were glad we did it.
We then drove from Venice to Verona. It was my dad's first time driving in Italy, so it was certainly an adventure. In fact, we stopped in the cute little city of Marghera on the way. Not on purpose, but we did. We noticed lots of grapes growing along the way and even a couple of cute castles. When we got to Verona, my dad and brother went to go park the car. They had quite the adventure trying to fit the car into a "box" provided by our hotel.
And of course, we went sightseeing.
Dinner tonight was at Lady Verona, Erbe 28 Caffe, where we had pasta carbonara, pizza, pasta alamattica, and lasagna Bolognese, awesome meal, and we got Tartuffo!

I also got a picture of me doing a handstand in the square by the bell tower.

And to finish the night, we relaxed in Piazza Bra.

QOTD: "It's like our own private dining room!" -Mom when she realized that we got the last table at the lunch place today.

Verona adventures are on their way for the next three days!

Amy
